Bryce Cox, owner and guide
A Prince George, BC native, Bryce is a fully certified ACMG Ski Guide and brings more than 20 years of experience to Dezaiko Lodge.
He began guiding backcountry ski touring groups with Ptarmigan Tours / Boulder Hut Adventures in the Purcells near Kimberly, BC and then shifted his focus to cat skiing, working as an integral part of Cariboo Cat Ski out of Valemount for 15+ years.
He then spent 3 years guiding for Last Frontier Heliskiing out of Terrace, BC – while continuing to guide private groups touring at various lodges in British Columbia before he and his wife and Tisha purchased Dezaiko Lodge.
Tisha Mcgregor, owner and chief operating officer
Born and raised in the Northern Rockies, Tisha brings her passion for the outdoors to Dezaiko Lodge.
Prior to her involvement with the lodge, she spent 20 years running two busy bed and breakfast businesses in the historic town of Barkerville, BC (2 hours from Prince George).
Tisha handles the administrative responsibilities for Dezaiko including coordinating guest bookings, financial management, staff scheduling and menu design.
Anita Doherty and Ken Cox, logisticians
Anita and Ken are a retired couple living and adventuring from their home base in Prince George.
Until her retirement in 2016 Anita worked as an educator teaching high school science. She continues to work part time at the local climbing gym.
Ken spent 43 years as a journeyperson industrial electrician. Since retirement in 2010 he has worked part time as a climbing instructor.
They enjoy extended road trips filled with adventure activities. They also enjoy international travel.
Anita and Ken's role with Dezaiko Lodge is providing ground support and logistics. They are also involved with lodge renovations and maintenance.
Matt Reynolds, guide
ACMG certified Mountain Guide Matt Reynolds has been a guide and AST provider for more than 20 years. Based in Jasper, Alberta, where he lives with his wife and daughter, he works as a guide full-time.
Matt has a wide range of experience working as a heli ski guide, ski touring guide, ice climbing guide, summer mountaineering guide and consultant. He has also worked as a snowcat ski guide where he managed the guiding team at Cariboo Snowcat Skiing for close to 15 years.
He has guided at Dezaiko Lodge for several seasons and leads our AST 2 courses as well.
Barb Sharp, guide
Barb’s introduction to skiing began on cross country skis at age 2, which later led her to compete on the biathlon World Cup circuit for a few years. She discovered powder skiing in her teenage years and got hooked!
She began her guiding career as a tail guide more than a decade ago and completed her full ACMG Ski Guide certification in 2017. During this time, she has enjoyed a mix of heli-skiing, cat-skiing, and touring guiding, teaching courses in avalanche and backcountry skills, and working for avalanche control programs.
This is Barb’s second season at Dezaiko Lodge. She has worked with Bryce in the past, and was even Bryce and Tisha’s neighbour in Prince George!
Barb is based in Jasper, Alberta, where she lives with her partner, Etienne. During the summer months she works for Parks Canada, mostly keeping bears and elk from getting into trouble with visitors.
Etienne Cardinal, guide
Originally from Québec, Etienne has spent most of his career working in the field for a variety of ecology projects. He put down roots in Jasper, Alberta, where he has lived and worked for Parks Canada for the past 10 years.
Etienne started tail guiding in 2014 and is a CAA Avalanche Practitioner, spending his winters ski touring, cat-skiing and heli-skiing. He has guided for several seasons Dezaiko Lodge.
For the rest of the year, Etienne can be found in some remote areas of Jasper National Park travelling with horses for Resource Conservation backcountry operations. You may also find him riding his mountain bike, perhaps paddleboarding, or rock climbing.
Logan Cox, lead custodian
Developing a fascination with snow removal at an early age, Logan has discovered self-actualization in his role at Dezaiko Lodge.
Named after Mount Logan, Canada’s highest peak (5,959 m), the 12th grader is an avid skier, enjoying both nordic skiing and alpine touring.
As a student, he is a huge fan of chemistry and all things math, and also loves 20th century history.
Logan is a competitive biathlete and nordic skier. (Biathlon is the combination of cross-country skiing and rifle marksmanship.) He was recently nominated to the Prospects Team of the Para Nordic Canada National Ski Team.
Naomi Mihalcheon, cook
Based in Kimberley, Naomi holds level one and level two culinary training certificates from College of the Rockies in Cranbrook and Selkirk College in Nelson. She has been cooking professionally for five years has and worked in a variety of different settings including mom-and-pop restaurants in Kimberley, larger restaurants, and Mantle's a fine dining restaurant at Sun Peaks resort.
Naiomi loves to be expressive, whether through cooking or music. She enjoys a challenge and find fulfilment when providing delicious meals for others. She is excited to be cooking this season at Dezaiko Lodge and is splitting the cooking duties with Tisha McGregor, working 2 weeks on and 2 weeks off.
Naiomi enjoys working at Dezaiko because she gets to be creative by planning and executing her menu ideas -- and enjoying the occasional day out shredding some pow with the guests.
